Maddie's CuddleCots

Time. It’s an immeasurable gift. It can also standstill. Here is our story: In October, 2019 our daughter Nicole and her husband James told us the wonderful news that they were pregnant with our granddaughter Madison Rose. We were overjoyed! Maddie would be our second grandchild, but our first granddaughter. Our first grandchild’s nickname is Moose. All of us would talk constantly about Moose and Maddie. “What if Maddie is born on Moose’s birthday?” was a common question. For the last nine months we were all super excited to welcome Maddie into this world-she would bring so much joy and happiness to our family! Our first grandchild was born on June 14, 2019, the happiest day of our lives. Our second grandchild was born still on June 14, 2020, the saddest day of our lives. Maddie was born by emergency c-section at 41 weeks. There are no words to describe the grief we feel over the loss of our sweet baby girl Maddie. The only true blessing throughout this tragic event is that Maddie was placed into a Cuddlecot which gave my daughter and her husband the gift of time. Time to hold her, time to hug and kiss her, time to bond with her, time to love her. Cuddlecot. A term we knew nothing about until now. A Cuddlecot is a unique cooling device designed to provide grieving parents with the invaluable gift of time with their recently deceased newborn. A Cuddlecot gave our family the opportunity to meet Maddie and spend time with her, which we will be forever grateful for.

We’ve decided to turn our grief into action. We are partnering with Ashliesembrace.org to raise money to purchase Cuddlecots for hospitals in the US. Each Cuddlecot that we can raise enough money to purchase will have a special plaque with Madison Rose’s name on it. This is our way to keep Maddie’s memory alive. Many hospitals in the United States do not have these Cuddlecots. We want to change that. We want to make a difference by honoring Madison Rose’s memory in this way. Thank you for your support!!
