Sponsor a Furever Foster

On occasion, some of our pugs come into the rescue with terminal illnesses, chronic medical conditions, or special emotional needs.  While these dogs may be considered unadoptable due to their complex conditions, they are able to enjoy a good quality of life.  For these special dogs, our foster families commit to providing love and care and Pacific Pug Rescue provides food, supplies and ongoing medical treatment for each of these dogs for the time they have left. This program is entirely funded by donations and sponsorships, and we rely on the generosity of our supporters to help these sweet Furever Fosters live full, happy, and comfortable lives.

Thank you for helping us keep a lifelong promise to the dogs that need it the most.

Meet our current furever fosters:

Diego:

Diego arrived in 2021 and immediately needed bilateral knee (MPL) surgery. We discovered he suffered from chronic kidney failure. We have been able to manage his kidney disease with medication, routine monitoring, and the support of his wonderful foster family.

Myrtle:

Miss Myrtle arrived in 2024 after her elderly owner could no longer care for her. A senior lady herself, it was clear she had not received vet care in a long time and had severe dental disease. We immediately got her to our vet where she was provided with a major dental as well as had a large mammary tumor which turned out to be cancerous removed. Her labs showed she had early kidney disease and high blood pressure. Due to her complicated medical conditions, we decided she would thrive best with our ongoing support with her forever foster family.

Gunner:

Gunner was almost euthanized by his previously family for having diarrhea and rapid weight loss. Luckily, instead he was placed with Pacific Pug Rescue and through a lot of diagnostic testing and imaging, we learned that he had GI disease and also a very large liver tumor. Thankfully, through our amazing veterinary surgeon, the liver tumor was removed completely. Gunner still has GI disease and will continue to do so for the rest of his life. We are able to manage most of his symptoms with a cocktail of medications, supplements, vet visits, and prescription food. He is a happy boy and thrilled to be enjoying life with his forever foster.

Punkin:

Punkin arrived as a super senior at 14 years old after her elder owners could no longer care for her. We got her fixed up with a major dental and general vet care and learned that she also had high blood pressure and was in early stage kidney failure. Punkin does not let anything slow her down and has a lot of energy for a girl her age. She loves her forever foster humans and her foster brother and sister and is being supported through regular monitoring at the vet and a prescription diet.

Cooper:

Cooper's owner passed away and he was passed along to a friend who could not care for him and surrendered him to Pacific Pug Rescue. After some much needed vet care, Cooper turned out to be quiet healthy, however we learned that he was quiet wary of new people and it takes him some time to get comfortable with them. Due to his grumpy nature, it was hard to find someone willing to put in the time and energy to get him to trust them and we decided it was best he stay within the rescue in our Furever Foster program to be cared for by a foster parent who really understands his quirks and allows for the best parts of him to shine by providing the patient and loving home he deserves. Cooper thinks that is just fine, because he really loves his foster mom and is quite happy to stay put!

Cooper has the cutest face and the sweetest eyes. He is very playful and has a surprising amount of energy for a 12-year-old pup. When you talk to him, he listens intently to everything you have to say. Cooper loves being a lap dog and a couch potato, watching TV while silently adoring you. He loves to cuddle and will reward you with abundant tail wags and kisses.
