Hello! I’m Maryam Nayeb Yazdi.

My dream is to live in a world where everyone can reach their potential. I believe in this vision so much that I have dedicated the last decade of my career to figuring out how to bring it to fruition.

In 2019, I launched Seed Operations, a nonprofit based in Washington, DC serving as a think, do, and creation tank with the mission of reversing the rise in authoritarianism in the world by building a new culture of accountability centered around the core principle that every person in the world should have access to universal human rights.

We’re focused on strengthening human connection and understanding through community focused projects and services. We are increasing humanity centered messaging in the mainstream to heighten root cause understanding among conscious individuals about the issues affecting all our lives with the goal of realizing more effective and sustainable solutions.

Today I am seeking donors to reach our 2024 goal of raising $200,000 to support our daily operational costs in addition to the current projects we have on the go.

Before I get into the specifics of the projects, here is a bit more about me and what led to the creation of Seed Operations.

Now I am seeking conscious figures such as yourself to join me in investing in our collective future. I wish to build community with you.

In summer 2009 I watched the nationwide uprising in Iran unfold in real time on social media.

Seeing young Iranians getting beaten and killed for daring to exercise their basic freedoms shifted how I perceived Iran and my own sense of purpose.

I had an aha moment where I realized that before this moment, I was perceiving Iran through a “western” lens and that the truth was rooted in seeing it through the eyes of the people daring to stand up against the oppression.

I realized that Iranians don’t want to live without access to their universal human rights and they’re willing to get killed to make this clear, and for as long as they are ruled by a dictatorship regime, they won’t gain access to these rights.

That summer I made the decision to dedicate myself to the freedom movement in Iran.

I played a leading role in the online revolution, started a translation blog called Persian2English to echo the voices of Iranians to the world so the international community could gain a deeper understanding of what life is really like living under gender apartheid rule. I provided consultation to the media, policy makers, human rights experts and all sorts of influencers. I launched campaigns to free prisoners of conscience and spoke at schools, panels, and international conferences. My work was recognized and featured in the media and I even received a Diamond Jubilee medal from the Queen of England.

Although I appreciated being recognized for my efforts, what mattered the most to me was creating real sustainable impact for Iran.

I realized that for as long as democratic governments are legitimizing and normalizing the rule of the regime in Iran, that the people of Iran stand no chance of ushering in free and fair elections to build a government that safeguards access to universal human rights.

That’s when I concluded that we need to increase accountability for decision and policy makers and heighten the sense of individual personal responsibility in order to stop the prioritization of business deals over the wellbeing of humanity.
