In Memoriam: Marcus Boyd Shook, MD
March 6, 1933 – December 23, 2022

Dear Manos Juntas family,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Fundación Manos Juntas, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved founder and Medical Director, Dr. Marcus Boyd Shook, on December 23, 2022. He passed away at the age of 89 at SSM/St. Anthony Hospital, one of the places he spent his life providing medical care.

Dr. Shook was a gifted clinician, caring mentor, generous friend, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the heart of our clinic and our community for many years, and his contributions will not be forgotten. He was a dedicated and compassionate healthcare provider, always putting the needs of our patients first.

Dr. Shook was also a friend and mentor to many of us, and his kindness and generosity will be greatly missed. He was particularly proud of mentoring young healthcare workers at Manos Juntas, at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and on care trips to Nicaragua.

The family will be holding a public memorial service for Dr. Shook in the Spring of 2023. We will share more information about the memorial once the details are finalized. All funds raised through this campaign will be used to keep the clinic open and provide our patients with the highest quality of care.
