Addiction almost killed me. I lost custody of my 3 kids. I was a shell of a person. I didn’t think there was any hope for me. I didn’t know about the resources that are out there to help someone like me.
I want to help others. There is hope. No matter where you are or how low you’ve gone, there is help.
I got sober through a treatment center and using 12 step programs like: AA, Celebrate Recovery, NA and Wellbriety. I like in Duluth, MN. I am very active in going to meetings and helping others. I listen to suggestions and “take the cotton out of my ears and put it in my mouth!” I go to meetings every day. Some are on zoom/phone and you can join in them also. You can just listen.
Things are different today.
I just got custody of my youngest daughter; she is 1 year old! She is beautiful and I am blessed. My other children are adopted. I just started college and I am finishing my peer support certification.
I'm excited to share my story at schools. If my experience can help one person it is worth it. I grew up on the Leech Lake reservation in Minnesota.

Recovery and trauma healing are evolving every day. I keep putting one moccasin in front of the other. I have more to learn but I keep moving forward
