Honoring NBF Board member April Levy’s mother, Betty whose birthday is on October 7; and in honor of her daughter's 13th birthday on October 27 and upcoming Bat Mitzvah
Nana's Books Foundation is a compelling organization to April who as a child learned about the world by reading books inspired by her mom and continues to learn from books as an adult.
“To develop empathy and understanding for those who are different from us, a book might be the first resource. I would have loved to have books to help me understand my mother's Alzheimer's disease, and I am so glad that there are wonderful books for kids and adults about Alzheimer's and dementia that can offer comfort to those who might feel like their loved one is slipping away from them, as well as ideas for coping with the many changes that will ensue with the progression of the disease.
I am very proud of my daughter for becoming a book vetter for NBF; as part of the charitable work she did for her Bat Mitzvah, she read and reviewed middle school level books for their appropriateness and sensitivity to the disabilities portrayed in the books.”
To honor and remember someone special in your life with dementia, please make a gift to Nana's Books Foundation, so their mission of getting books into the hands of children to help everyone better understand Alzheimer's, dementia, and other disabilities can continue to flourish.” April Levy, October 2024
