75th Anniversary Gala
We are proud to announce our 75th Anniversary Gala..."an Evening of Community". Our Honorary Chairs for the event are Representative Edna Jackson and Sam McCachern, CEO of Thomas & Hutton Engineering.
Prior to Greenbriar's founding in 1949, African-American children who were orphaned or had no one to care for them were sent to a local penal institution or work farm. Today, three-quarters of a century later, much has changed. We now provide a multitude of services to individuals from all cultural, ethnic, economic, and demographic backgrounds. What has not changed is our dedication to helping children and families who are in need.
Today, Greenbriar operates one of only two emergency shelters in Chatham County for children who are abused, abandoned, neglected, runaway or homeless. Greenbriar also operates three (3) early care and learning centers for infants six weeks and up, providing quality, affordable child care. We also provide a Family Preservation and Support program providing prevention and intervention wrap-around services to families.
On Friday evening, November 15, 2024, Greenbriar will host its 75th Anniversary Gala at the Hyatt Regency. This will be an evening of celebration of all that has been accomplished, and all that remains to be accomplished. In 2023, Greenbriar opened its infant center, providing daily care to infants as young as six weeks old, primarily from low-income families, so that their parents can go to work and/or continue their education. There is more work to be done.
