Hi y'all - my name is Prerna Srivastava, and I am a former Philly elementary school principal and NYC high school teacher, and now proud founder of Camp Desi Roots. 

 

Camp Desi Roots is a transformative summer program dedicated to empowering South Asian youth by fostering a strong sense of identity, community, and belonging. Our camps offer a unique blend of storytelling, outdoor adventure, and cultural immersion, with the vision of creating a space where South Asian youth can connect deeply with themselves and each other.

 

We strongly believe that our camps should be accessible to all South Asian kids, regardless of their financial means or background.  For next year's camp, our goal is to fully fund 10 campers who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford the camp, or $20,000 (this funding would cover campers' accommodations, meals, and programmatic costs for the whole week).
