🌟 End-of-Year Giving Story: “From Darkness to Light”

As we close out this year, we invite you to look inside the story of one of our women—a story that was changed because people like you chose to give hope.

When Sara arrived at Bethesda Transformation Center, she brought little more than a small bag of clothes and a heart burdened by addiction, loss, and years of believing she was beyond redemption. She avoided eye contact. She didn’t think she deserved a second chance—let alone a transformed life.

But everything began to change on her very first morning.

She slipped into worship and stood quietly in the back, arms folded, trying to hold herself together. As worship rose in the room, something in her began to soften. The women gathered around her with a love she didn’t yet know how to receive. For the first time in a long time, she felt safe.

Then the transformation began.

Sara started arriving early to class—taking notes, asking questions, and engaging in teachings on the Fruits of the Spirit, Boundaries, the Daniel Prayer, and the Power of the Resurrection. She volunteered to pray. She encouraged new women on their first day, remembering how heavy that moment had been for her.

After a session on Lies We Believe, she quietly said through tears,
“I’m starting to believe God really can heal me.”

Today, she is unrecognizable from the woman who first walked through our doors.
She smiles.
She participates.
She leads others in prayer.
She is dreaming again—something she once believed was impossible.

Her transformation didn’t happen by chance.
It happened because this community cares.
Because volunteers show up.
Because a safe home exists.
Because generosity made space for healing.
