Gaffney High Swim Team Family, friends, and fans,

First, a HUGE thank you to those that donated last year and to those who will donate this year! We simply are unable to do it without your help and support! Your support helps us offer a higher quality experience for all of our swim team participants.

Swim as a physical exercise is a total body workout. A low impact exercise, it can be practiced lifelong and builds a healthy habit as a part of a healthy way of life. In addition to keeping the body healthy, regular swimming can have a great role in maintaining the mental health too. Studies from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institute for Health (NIH) demonstrated swimming can be a reason for instant mood improvement. Unlike other students, those who start learning swimming in the early ages are seen as having an overall improvement in language skills, setting physical milestones, and will have a boost in confidence.

The GHS Swim Team is a successful program that not only emphasizes and supports physical health, but encourages our students to do well academically also. The coaching staff and team culture is positive and encouraging – emphasizes education, good grades and teamwork. The Swim program reaches students as young as 7^th grade giving them a sport that they can be a part of and encouraging their continuation into high school and graduation. Students who have trouble finding a place to fit in find life-long friendships amongst their swim teammates.

Why did we switch fundraising platforms?

This year we are using the GiveButter platform to reduce the costs for fundraising. Using GiveButter will reduce our expenses from 20% to less than 6%. You now also will have the option to cover the administrative fees in your donation as well so that more of your donation can be used on our athletes.

How are the donations used?

Funds are used to help pay for food/snacks, end of year banquet and gifts, and any other team needs throughout the year for all the swimmers. Also, they will be used to cover any additional expenses that may come up due to COVID-19 requirements. Fundraising is an important part of how we pay for those costs. We appreciate every donation!

Can donors purchase gifts for swimmers or t-shirts and gear to support like we did last year?

Yes! We heard from many parents that you might still want to do this. We have formed a partnership with Destination Athlete in Gaffney to allow parents to buy t-shirts, hoodies, and other items through our team webstore or by contacting one of the officers before the deadline. As previous years, a portion of your purchase will go to the Swim Team Booster Club. You can order online here:
