From Classroom to Kitchen: A Gateway Cook Book Project

More Than a Cookbook—A Celebration of Student Talent and Collaboration

Sweeter by the Dozen is a product of true collaboration at CT State Community College Gateway. This yearlong project brought together students from multiple disciplines: culinary arts, graphic design, nutrition, photography, English, and printing to create something both delicious and deeply meaningful.

The recipes were developed and tested by Culinary Club students in the Gateway Culinary & Hospitality Opportunity Program (GCHOP), alongside contributions from their professional mentors. The vibrant layout and design were crafted by the Graphic Design Capstone class, turning this cookbook into a hands-on learning experience rooted in creativity, teamwork, and career readiness.

This initiative reflects what’s possible when students are supported. Not only by faculty and peers, but also by a community of donors who believe in their potential.
