We're partnering with Wollman Rink and City Pickle for a night of pickleball fun in support of GCF's young climate leaders. Compete in a tournament for prizes or enjoy the games as a spectator!

About GCF

Since 2009, working at the intersection of environmental, economic and racial justice, GCF's mission has been to train young leaders to power a green and inclusive society through service. GCF works in close partnership with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) - a city within a city, representing roughly 1 in 17 New Yorkers and primarily people of color - to engage 18-24 year old public housing and other low-income housing residents with high school diplomas and equivalents in full-time, 6-10 month AmeriCorps national service and workforce training terms (GCF’s Service Corps). GCF’s programs are rooted in the belief that these young adults are uniquely positioned through leadership, training, and service to drive change in frontline communities while building skills, earning certifications, and gaining experience to help launch their careers and achieve economic prosperity.

As NYCHA’s Civilian Climate Corps, members of GCF’s Service Corps lead large-scale, multi-faceted sustainability initiatives improving the environment and health for thousands of fellow residents. GCF's Eco-Hub model places historically disadvantaged young adults at the center of community-led change while also preparing young adults for green economy careers and advancement opportunities. Graduates go on to jobs or college, directly or through alumni initiatives that build towards sectoral jobs and apprenticeships, via social enterprise contracts or advanced training developed with employers.

At GCF, we believe in the knowledge and wisdom of people from frontline communities as the ones with the best understanding of what it takes to solve problems in their home communities, including climate solutions. In alignment with city, state and federal commitments to sustainability and a growing, inclusive green workforce, GCF’s track record and thought leadership has positioned us as a model for the recently announced federal initiative, the American Climate Corps; GCF was also recently announced by NYC’s Mayor as a key workforce development partner in NYC’s Green Economy Action Plan to create thousands of ‘green-collar’ jobs across the city by 2040.
