At Children for Change, we believe that every child deserves equal access to educational resources, regardless of their economic background. In Jamaica, students are responsible for school registration fees and purchasing required textbooks and workbooks, unlike the public school system in the United States.

Approximately 45 percent of Jamaica's population lives in rural areas where the incidence of poverty is about 28.5 percent. This reality means many children face challenges in accessing quality education.

To break this cycle, Children for Change partners with rural schools in St. Ann, Jamaica, to provide students with the necessary workbooks for the academic year. Our mission is to ensure that every student, regardless of their financial means, has the same access to educational resources, empowering them to excel academically.

Our goal is to help these students build a strong educational foundation, enabling them to create better futures for themselves and their families—a dream every parent has for their child. By supporting education, we can break the poverty cycle.

The average cost of books for an entire academic year for children in grades K1-6th is $50.00 US per student. While this may seem modest, it can represent a significant portion of a family's income in rural farming communities.
