Please help support Girls in the Game!
Hi, I'm Liz and I'm honored to be running in the 2025 Chicago Marathon with Girls in the Game; an organization providing sports, health and leadership programs in partnership with schools, parks and community centers in Chicago! In hopes of empowering young girls to find their voice and speak up, discover their strength and inspire future generations, and build confidence through movement and play, this organization is a leader on and off the field -- similar to the agency that I interned for last year.
At Doc Wayne, I provided sports-based therapy to children and adolescents within the Boston Public School system. Having grown up playing soccer and doing dance, I understand firsthand the mind and body impact that sports have on developing youth as they continue to play a pivotal role in who I am today. Yet being a coach I had the privilege to witness that impact from a different perspective. The integrated play and social-emotional skill building paved the way for many girls to feel more confident in themselves, find strength in who they are, and help them recognize that they not only belong in this space but are deserving of being here, too.
I’m proud to now have the chance to run for an organization that continues this mission by allowing girls to feel safe in vulnerability, build resilience, and explore not just who they are but who they want to be, who they could be, through the power of active minds, bodies and hearts. Please join me over the next (many) months of training and preparation by helping me fundraise for this amazing organization. Who knows? You could be the one to help drive the next Alex Morgan, Ilona Maher, Simone Biles or Caitlin Clark — her story starts here, with you and I.
