Giraffes, the iconic giants of Africa, are facing a silent extinction. Populations have plummeted by nearly 40% in just three decades due to habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict. At Global Conservation Force, we believe it’s time to stand tall for giraffes.
Our giraffe conservation journey began in northern Kenya, where GCF provided support for community-based rangers, assisted in giraffe health monitoring, and participated in translocation and collaring efforts alongside local partners. These projects laid the foundation for our broader commitment to giraffe protection.
Today, our work continues and grows through a range of targeted conservation strategies:
Anti-Poaching & Wildlife Monitoring Patrols: We support ranger units that actively patrol giraffe habitat, deter illegal activity, and monitor giraffe populations across protected and buffer zones.
Habitat Protection & Expansion: GCF is working with partners to protect and restore giraffe habitat, ensuring these browsers have access to safe, connected landscapes across reserves and corridor networks.
Community Engagement & Education: We collaborate with local communities to foster a sense of ownership and pride in giraffe conservation. From school visits to ranger-led outreach, we help bridge the gap between people and wildlife.
Research Support & Conservation Training: By investing in giraffe monitoring technologies, field data collection, and training for conservation professionals, GCF helps build long-term capacity for giraffe protection.
Giraffes are more than just icons of the savanna—they are keystone species whose presence reflects the health of their ecosystem. Your support helps ensure their survival for generations to come.
