Children with visible skin conditions like Alex face this every day—feeling isolated, struggling with self-esteem, and dealing with the emotional weight of unwanted stares and hurtful comments. For Alex, her skin disease meant feeling like she had to hide who she was, fearing people would only see her condition and not her unique beauty, her creativity, and her heart.

But, because of the generosity of past donors that made our work at Made A Masterpiece possible, Alex can now tell a very different story. 

With a donation to Made A Masterpiece, you tell kids like Alex they don’t have to face these challenges alone. Your generosity means we can expand programs and offer kids a safe, empowering community where they feel seen, accepted, and celebrated for exactly who they are. 

Your support provides resources to make a real impact—like our one-day family camp experience, Camp Dermadillo, where kids meet others with similar experiences, share laughs, and build life-changing friendships; our therapeutic art events through our (+) Perspectives Series, where children can express themselves freely and experience the joy of creativity; and social and emotional support programs so kids and their families have the strength they need to live with the far-reaching impacts of skin disease.

This year, we aim to raise $20,000 before December 31 to help children, teens, and their families navigate the major impact of skin disease. Every dollar you give fuels our mission to empower children with visible skin conditions, helping them gain confidence, build community, and see themselves as the masterpieces they truly are.

In the past, we have relied on a small but dedicated group of supporters to help keep our programs running. However, as the need continues to grow, we are asking our entire community to join us in helping even more individuals embrace their unique beauty and find acceptance.  We are reaching big and have set a lofty goal because we know how vital this work is and envision the far-reaching impact every dollar can have for our community with skin conditions.

As a small nonprofit with a big mission, every dollar makes a huge impact.  That impact then has ripple effects, because when we help even just one child with a skin condition or their family member to overcome their social, emotional, and spiritual struggles, then they are empowered to be their own advocates and can help others.
