Hope should be living the life every young husky deserves.

Terrorizing squirrels.

Demanding snacks she absolutely does not need.

Instead, Hope arrived at Fresno Animal Center weighing just 28 pounds.

Twenty-eight.

At one year old.

Look at her face.

The shelter notes indicate scabies around her mouth, but what we see is a dog whose body has been overwhelmed by neglect. Her skin is raw, inflamed, crusted, and painful. Whether the cause is scabies, secondary infection, immune compromise from starvation, or a combination of all three, one thing is clear:

This little girl has suffered.

For a long time.

And yet, despite everything that has happened to her, the shelter notes describe Hope as easy to handle.

That is the part that breaks us.

Because after the hunger, the discomfort, the neglect, and the abandonment, she is still willing to trust people.

Woof Tribe is already carrying an overwhelming medical burden. We are funding cancer treatment, orthopedic surgeries, parvo recovery, boarding, transport, and emergency veterinary care for dogs who have nowhere else to go.

But some dogs leave you with only one answer.

Hope was one of those dogs.
