Since 1982, HUGS supports Hawaii families statewide with a child up to age 21 who has been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness or disease. Our mission is to strengthen Hawaii's families and improve their quality of life as they face the emotional and financial hardships of caring for a seriously ill child.

HUGS provides monthly peer support programs for each member of the family including Mom's and Dad's Nights, Respites and Family Events. Our programs give our families the opportunity to connect with other families facing similar challenges, in a fun, non-invasive manner. When a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, it impacts each family member in significant and very different ways. By having different programs for each member of the family, it allows our dads, moms, siblings and HUGS child to form new friendships, gain insight from each other and know that they are not alone.

There is no charge for our families to participate, so your contribution ensures that our HUGS families will be able to continue enjoy and participate in these programs our families desperately need.
