The beautiful thing about hope is that it spreads. It reaches classrooms, empty bowls, and tired feet walking miles to school. And when it reached a boy named Benson, his entire life began to change. 


After losing his father, Benson’s mother struggled to raise her children in Ghana’s rural Volta Region, where most families live on less than $2 a day. Despite his determination, hunger kept him from learning—until Mako stepped in with daily meals, tutoring, and steady guidance. With stability came confidence, and Benson rose to the top of his class.

Today, he’s a university graduate and entrepreneur, determined to “help kids the way Mako helped me”—proof that hope doesn’t stop with a child; it grows through them, into families and communities.

That transformation didn’t come from luck.
