The Formation Project empowers survivors of human trafficking through services, advocacy, and community—providing the safety, stability, and hope they need to heal and rebuild. Based in Charleston, SC, we walk alongside adults and transition-aged youth (18+) with trauma-informed care and legal advocacy, ensuring survivors have both the resources and the rights to thrive.

Your donation ensures that every survivor has access to safety, stability, and hope.

One time, monthly, quarterly or yearly options are available for your donation - or you can give through your Donor Advised Fund (DAF)! Mission and ImpactWHAT:
The Formation Project helps human trafficking survivors rebuild their lives by providing safe housing, legal assistance, and compassionate, trauma-informed care—transforming how our region combats this crisis.

HOW:
We serve survivors through a coordinated, data-driven model that combines direct services, advocacy, and partnerships with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and community organizations to deliver wraparound care and systemic change.

WHERE:
Our work is expanding statewide, reaching survivors and communities most in need—across both urban and rural areas.

WHY NOW?
Human trafficking is happening locally, often hidden in plain sight. Charleston County ranks #2 in South Carolina for reported cases. The need for comprehensive, survivor-centered solutions has never been more urgent.

Why the elephant logo? Our name comes from the way female elephants protect one another—forming a circle around the vulnerable, shielding them from harm, and celebrating the journey toward freedom and healing. That’s what we do too: when survivors are vulnerable, we get in formation.
