Gifts Of Hope was founded by Samona J. Burleson in October 2017 after she observed the reality of the state of homelessness in Seattle, WA (over 12,000 people affected), its effects on children, and the community’s sincere desire to help with few concrete and tangible ways to do so.

GOH was the first organization to create a Christmas wishlist at the Othello Village Tiny House Camp in South Seattle. Samona then reached out to schools, shelters, camps and low-income housing residents.

The original goal was to assist at least 50 individuals for Christmas. By December 13th, 2017, over 500 people were “adopted” for Christmas. The assistance continued throughout the year with backpacks for students, free haircuts, birthday parties for children, school tab pay-off projects, and more. In 2018, we assisted over 6000 individuals throughout Seattle. Our numbers continue to grow. Our donors as well as the number of families assisted have tripled as we prepare for our 5th Annual Christmas Assistance Program anniversary!
