We are starting a 2 week fundraising campaign with the hopes of raising $35,000 and creating 350 nonprofit profiles!

What is a Hackathon?

A Hackathon is typically an event in which a large number of people meet to engage in collaborative computer programming. For 8 hours on May 13th over Zoom, we will be creating new nonprofit profiles on our platform to help nonprofits get started.

How can I help?

1. Donate any amount to help us reach our goal!

2. Make a donation per nonprofit profile we each pledge to create.

Each board member is pledging to create 55 profiles for the Hackathon on May 13th!

Similar to a walkathon, you can donate per profile we are pledging to create:

$0.25 per profile = $13.75 donation

$0.50 per profile = $27.50 donation

$1 per profile = $55 donation

$2 per profile = $110 donation

$4 per profile = $220 donation

$10 per profile = $550 donation

3. Volunteer to help create nonprofit profiles.

Sign up using this form by May 12th if you are interested in volunteering to create nonprofit profiles! You can complete the profiles anytime the week of May 13th. You can also sign up for a shift to create profiles during the Hackathon itself.

4. Become a Moraler!

Sign up to be a moraler! Join a session of your choice to help pump up the team as they work. Stop by anytime during the Hackathon to pump up our team (suggested donation $25).

Why do we need $35,000?

Platform Optimization and Bug Fixes - $10,000
We have 40+ bugs that were identified during our Product Group Committee testing. We need to work through these bugs in order to ensure our platform is providing the best experience possible for our community members and nonprofit members.

Marketing & Outreach - $10,000

We are officially launching into the Nashville community on September 8th. We want to outreach to our users through flyers, stickers, ads, and other traditional marketing methods. We would like to also push the envelope to creatively outreach (maybe a billboard?) and spread the word within the community. Some wild ideas we have come up with are a billboard in downtown Nashville, sending postcards into the jails, and branding much needed items in shelters and nonprofits serving those surviving poverty such as bags, water bottles, socks, chargers, first aid kits, and anything in between.

New Feature Development - $15,000

We still have amazing ideas for how to improve our search experience and add value for our users. We would love to improve our search experience though optimization methods like auto suggest or keyword search associations. We also need to think towards geolocation expansion as well as expanding our services to other organizations such as listing government social services on our platform.
