I was connected to LBFE in 2022 through the community partners program of Northeastern University’s Alliance of Civically Engaged Students. I organize social events like bingo, chair yoga, birthday parties, and craft nights at Doris Bunte Apartments. I will never forget the residents I met at Doris Bunte. One had a grandson that often visited our programs, and she spent each meeting proudly sharing stories about him. Another always had a joke to share and filled the room with the laughter of younger volunteers and older adults alike. There is an epidemic of loneliness among older adults, especially after the isolation of the pandemic. LBFE keeps people socially connected and improves the mental and emotional health of participants. Our programs are designed to get participants out and engaging with their neighbors. Your money will fund our supply closet and the wages of our supervisors. We need your support to continue offering programs across Boston. Every dollar helps.
