Giving Tuesday 2025

This Giving Tuesday means more than ever for us at JP. We’re at a crucial moment caring for more medically-fragile residents than ever before while finishing the biggest project in our sanctuary’s history.

So much of sanctuary life happens quietly, behind the scenes. Animals needing emergency care, supplies becoming harder to source, fencing and shelters aging, and sudden situations where an animal’s safety depends on fast action. This year held many of those moments.

2025 brought big responsibilities. We began building our new barn and fencing, a project totaling $142,000 - so far we’ve raised just over $10,000 for the barn. — a space that will give Shirley and Pepper (pigs), and new residents a safe home for years to come. Yes, we said ''new residents" - two senior miniature donkeys will be arriving next weekend - they are 30 years old and super adorable!

Medical care also surged this year.

Monthly medications and vet visits for residents now average nearly $1,000.
Ferdinand’s braces, specialty vet visits, adjustments, and an emergency visit reached almost $10,000. We've raised approximately $4,000.
Ellie May’s amputation, repeated follow-ups, and her wheelchair added significantly to our medical budget at $2,500. We've raised about $1,700.
Two of our roosters recently had multiple emergency vet visits and surgeries yet unfortunately both 'Van and Tag-a-Long' didn't make it. The bills have not yet been tallied and sent.

Buildings and maintenance are ongoing.

We are building a new coop for Maggie, and Liam so they can live safely and comfortably.
We placed doors for Rocky and Brooklyn’s A-frames until they can move into the new barn - although Oscar has been updating and winterizing their A-frames so nicely that they may want to stay there!

Essential care is ongoing.

And essential care — like hay, which totaled nearly $23,000 this year, and our $500/week Tractor Supply bill — continues nonstop, no matter what else is happening.

This is sanctuary life — constant, meaningful, and powered by community. Every rescue, every medical treatment, every new structure exists because people like you believe these lives matter. As we often emphasize, our efforts are a community endeavor. It's not just one person but a collective of individuals coming together to make a difference. Whether you support us through donations, volunteer work or through supportive messages and sending healing energy to our residents, your contributions matter immensely. We are also grateful to local businesses that donate services and or gift donations for our auctions and raffles.

On this Giving Tuesday, we’re asking for your support so we can finish the barn, keep up with medical needs, and care for every resident depending on us this winter. Your donation directly supports the animals and is tax-deductible.
