Fresh Air is a design studio dedicated to evolving societal values through highly experimental design and culture. We explore and share practices at the intersection of societal design, contemporary art, and spiritual practice, allowing cultural influencers and leaders to understand and embody the essence of our humanity.

We believe self-understanding to be the core issue in problems of mental health, sustainability, and connection at large, which are then causes to many institutional issues like racial and economic inequality, healthcare system failures etc.

Camp Air, our latest project, is an incubator for research at the intersection of art, design, and spiritual practice. Our mission is to offer individuals a nurturing physical environment and a framework that fosters clarity, and alignment with our deepest essence.

We have a colossal dream of cultivating an incubation space where the young change-makers of society can first shape themselves. We have fought with sweat, tears, and lawyers in the past 7 months all to make this dream space a reality.

We are renting two very serene & creatively conducive cottages in the mountains of Woodstock.

From August 1 - September 30 at our incubator Camp Air, 20+ full and part-time residents will study subjects that are pillars or values crucial to societal redesign.

The greater curriculum will include:

institutional explorations
exercises in presence, play, and time
understanding self, zone of genius, and ikigai
taking the meditative mindset and orienting it towards a vision and an action plan

An example workshop within our curriculum is "The Anatomy of a School"

This subject is focused on dissecting and redesigning educational institutions. We’ll break down its anatomy (such as mentorship, curriculum, peer support, subject expertise, etc.), how it shapes one’s life in current form, where its critical value has become lost on society, and where non-traditional environments are addressing similar needs.

This exercise will leave participants with tangible steps on how to design a modern education path for themselves, and plant seeds of what such redesign could look like for their communities and society at large.

Fundamental to our philosophy, we will also teach meditation, breathwork, and other techniques of mindfulness as tools in synchronization with one’s creative practice.

Our Goal

We are a few twenty-somethings who have invested our our savings, time, and life force to make this one-month incubator happen, all in the name of fostering greater connection in society.

We have already rented the space and have given out scholarships to our community of artists, designers, and thought leaders to ensure this transformational experience is accessible.

- Allowing them to integrate their transformative experiences at Camp Air into their art practice, impacting at least 17,000 youth interested in art and culture across our collective reach.

Documenting Camp Air as a short film and online curriculum publication
- these media formats will make accessible our process of using design and meditation to explore the nature of reality and solve problems within mental health, connection, and sustainability.

Our Team

Jared Zhang was born in Shenzhen, China, and moved to Chengdu before relocating to Texas as a teenager. His studies in marketing and contextual design in California and the Netherlands, along with his diverse artistic practice, explore desire, spirituality, and consumerism.

Zhang's personal journey, navigating complex identities and societal pressures, through the mediums of culture and design has led him to the almagation of 7 years of work into Camp Air. Fresh Air has become a vessel to challenge modern life's alienation while fostering spaces for connection and transformation.

Ireland Adgate is an interdisciplinary artist and technologist based between NYC and Woodstock, NY.

After a childhood in the woods of Northern Michigan, Ireland left home to dance at institutions such as Pacific Northwest Ballet and the School of American Ballet with notable performances at McCaw Hall in Seattle and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.. She went on to study economics and design thinking, inspiring an empathy based entrepreneurial mindset. This blend of connection to the natural world, creative expression, and intellectual curiosity shaped a unique practice with primary mediums of narrative essay and short film, that distill the wisdom of the universe in a distinct style of dry witted purity.

Ireland has worked in marketing & technology in the agency and start-up spaces, and as a self proclaimed “spiritual math girl”, is a pragmatic 200-hour certified meditation teacher in the lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

The unique amalgamation of her curiosities and identity, leaves Ireland with an ironic “ambition towards presence” for both herself and her species.
