Hi! My name is Amirah, and I’m a rising senior pre-law history major at the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University and a proud intern with Democracy North Carolina’s Democracy Summer program.
This fall, my incredible co-intern Kyndal Coulter and I will be organizing a powerful on-campus event titled Black Women for All Elections, and we need your support to bring it to life.
Through this event, we aim to center Black women’s voices and leadership in civic life by emphasizing the importance of participating in all elections — not just presidential ones. While national politics often dominate the headlines, it’s local offices and policies that shape our daily lives: they impact HBCU funding, public safety, housing initiatives, education, and healthcare policies. This initiative is about helping our community recognize that their voices matter in every race, every ballot, and every cycle.
To pull this off, we need funding for event supplies like flyers and banners to draw students in and keep them engaged.
Your donation, whether it’s $5, $50, or a simple share, will directly support:
- Flyers & event promotion
- Food & refreshments to attract and retain attendees
- Tabling materials like banners, tablecloths, and swag
- T-shirts to spread our message beyond the event
We’re so grateful for your belief in us and this work. With your support, we can empower more Black women to step into their political power and shape a future where their voices are heard at every level.
Let’s build a more just and inclusive democracy together!
With gratitude,
Amirah Barrett
