17 years ago, I first attended Dragonfly Forest, an overnight summer camp for children with autism and chronic medical conditions. In the nearly 2 decades of the camp's existance, it has taken on changes to its program and location, but its mission has always remained the same: provide an overnight summer camp experience for children who typically are not given the opportunity. Over the past 17 years, I have transition from camper during asthma week to counselor to program director to camp director. This camp is me on so many levels. It is where I made lifelong friendships. It is the reason I have pursued a career in education. In the summer of 2024, the camp will transitioning to a new name with 2 new locations, but with one mission that has been at it's foundation since its existence 2 decades okay. Camp SkyWild... Camp SkyWild will continue to provide an overnight summer camp experience for children on the autism spectrum and their siblings just as Dragonfly Forest and Camp Tall Tree have for years. The difference: 2 NEW LOCATIONS! I am so happy to announce that Camp SkyWild will have our traditional program in Michigan, but will also be adding a second location in New York! I am so excited for my east coast friends to experience the fun, excitement and life-changing experience that is Camp SkyWild!
