The Fest is an all day family-friendly festival in Wickliffe, Ohio. It takes place on the seminary grounds for the Archdiocese of Cleveland. There will be several big name Christian bands performing all day, vendors, fun activities like a petting zoo area, inflatables, games, merchandise, an adoration chapel, an outdoor rosary group, etc. The day ends with fireworks and an outdoor mass with thousands of people, which is celebrated by the Bishop.
We will be taking a group to The Fest on Saturday, August 6th. We will stay overnight at the Courtyard Marriot in Willoughby, Ohio and return on Sunday, Aug. 7th. There will be 4 teens per room. We will request the girls stay on one floor and the boys on a different floor. We may stop on Sunday morning at the Sorrowful Mother Shrine in Bellevue, Ohio on our way back. We would eat a pizza lunch at their picnic shelter and then return home after. I am meeting with my fellow group leaders next week to finalize details. The cost will be $100.
There is a button below that you can click to see a video from our trip last year. We will be taking 12 & 15 passenger rental vans for transportation.
Myself, and two or three other youth ministers (Jeanne Fairbanks (Ascension), Elena Pope (St. Christopher/St. John, Tipp City), and possibly our friend from Our Lady of Good Hope (Miamisburg), Jen Sens, will be the group leaders.
We will need a male Safe Parish trained chaperone. If any dads are interested, you are welcome to contact me.
REGISTRATION for this event is due by next Thursday, July 6th. The hotel will only hold our block of hotel rooms until next week so I need to know for sure how many people will be going.
There also is a link to the Fest's website below.
When we arrive, we will set up our small tent; our soccer chairs and coolers, and this will be our home base. Small groups will then go explore, get food at the vendors, etc. and meet back and watch the bands at our home base.
This is a family friendly event. If any families are interested in going and meeting us there and hanging out at our base camp, that would be awesome! I can share hotel info., etc. and you can see if they have some rooms available if so.
