The Village Pet Project
The Village Pet Project is different. We’re a mutual aid network built on one simple belief: caring for pets shouldn’t be a privilege, and support shouldn’t come with shame.
Being a pet parent in Metro Atlanta can cost nearly $3,000 a year.
Maybe you can usually afford your pet’s care, but sometimes… life happens. A surprise vet visit. An unexpected diagnosis. A month where everything comes due at once.
For our neighbors—seniors on fixed incomes, single parents, people between jobs, with medical debt, or who have just lost a loved one—that number hits differently. It's a constant, heavy worry. It's an impossible choice: groceries or vet care? Rent or pet food? A surrender to shelter, or worse. For years, we’ve provided emergency support through pet pantries and vet clinics. We’ve seen the relief in a parent's eyes when they get a bag of food. But we’ve also seen the anxiety return when that bag runs out. Crisis support is a lifeline, but it isn't a solution.
It truly does take a village to raise a dog, and that’s why The Village Pet Project exists.
Ready to be part of something real? To move beyond transactions and into trust?
Here, there are no “haves” and “have-nots.” There’s just us, a community that looks out for each other.
Think of it like a neighborhood co-op, but for pet care. We all pitch in what we can to create a shared safety net. Then, when life happens, an unexpected vet bill, a tight month, or a pet in need of training, your village is here to help.
It’s a new way of caring for each other, for people who believe no one should have to face tough times alone.
Built on a "Pay-It-Forward" promise: Every Villager contributes a monthly or quarterly donation amount of their choice. 100% of every membership donation goes directly into our community care fund. Not to overhead. Not to salaries. Back into the pot so that it can go right back out to a neighbor.
Join with a monthly or quarterly sliding-scale donation that feels right for you. In return, you gain:
✅ Automatic eligibility for veterinary payment plans with no credit check required.
✅ Access to virtual force-free dog training resources and local support.
✅ Pet pantry support when you need it—no questions, no paperwork.
✅ The knowledge that any unused funds from your donation stay in the village, recirculating to help another family.
Think of this less as charity or paying for a service and more as pitching in for a friend.
By joining our village, you're now in our network of mutual aid. You're proving that a better, kinder system is possible. You're funding the first links in a chain of community support that will grow stronger on its own. Be the reason a family gets to breathe a little easier, and a pet gets to stay where they're loved.
Let's build this together.
