The Village Pet Project
The Village Pet Project is different. We’re a mutual aid network that believes caring for pets shouldn’t be a privilege, and support shouldn’t come with shame.
Vet bills shouldn't mean choosing between your pet and your rent.
But that's the reality for most Metro Atlanta pet parents. It’s not unheard of for insurance to deny much-needed claims, or for GoFundMe pages to stay empty.
Maybe you can usually afford your pet’s care, but sometimes… life happens. A surprise vet visit. An unexpected diagnosis. A month where everything comes due at once. Pets should never end up surrendered (or worse) because their families couldn't afford one emergency.
Right here in Atlanta, we’re building a better option.
It truly does take a village to raise a dog, and that’s why The Village Pet Project exists.
Ready to be part of something real? To move beyond transactions and into trust?
What Is The Village?
The Village Pet Project is a community cost-share fund. Metro Atlanta pet parents contribute monthly, creating a pool of money we can all borrow from when vet bills hit.
No need to worry about credit checks or interest.
This is built from neighbors helping neighbors, because we know any of us could need it next month.
How It Works
1️⃣ You contribute monthly
We recommend $20/month per pet, but you can choose what works for your budget.
2️⃣ When you need help with vet care, you borrow from the fund
✔️ Borrow based on what you've contributed, plus a community match that grows over time.
✔️ Interest-free, no paperwork, no judgment
✔️Pay it back through your ongoing monthly contributions
✔️Use it as many times as you need
3️⃣ The money recirculates
Your contribution helps someone else this month. Their contribution helps you next month. The fund stays strong because we all keep it going!
Never need to borrow? That's great. Your contributions still help keep the fund strong for your neighbors.
What You Get as a Villager
Automatic eligibility for veterinary payment plans with no credit check required
Monthly access to the pet pantry (food + litter, delivered in Clayton County)
Priority access to community vet days and mini clinics (vaccines and wellness care at affordable prices)
Free virtual dog training (force-free, positive reinforcement methods)
100% of your contribution stays in Metro Atlanta and recirculates through the community fund. Nothing goes to corporate profits or disappears into insurance company pockets.
This Is Mutual Aid, Not Charity
There are no “haves” and “have-nots” here. We don’t believe in deserving vs. undeserving pet parents.
We are all people who love our pets and know the system is broken, which is why we’re building the safety net we all need.
Some months, you contribute while someone else borrows. Some months, you're the one who needs help.
Let's build this together.
