It is with heavy hearts that Children Beyond Our Borders (CBOB) shares the devastating news of a tragic landslide that struck Granizal, a rural community in the municipality of Bello, Colombia, just one day after we completed two meaningful weeks of service alongside the beautiful families, children, and community members who call it home.

This natural disaster has left an indelible impact:

🕯 23 lives lost
❓ 13 individuals still missing
🏥 10 community members injured
🏚 Around 10 homes buried beneath the mudslide
🚨 Over 625 people displaced, currently housed in emergency shelters

💡 Please note: These numbers may continue to change as search and rescue efforts are still underway in the most heavily affected areas.

Our Commitment to Granizal

CBOB has been working alongside the Granizal community since 2022. Together, we have:

🏡 Improved the Casa de Acción Comunal of the Oasis de Paz sector, a vital community hub
💻 Provided technology to the Puesto de Salud, enabling telemedicine and greater access to healthcare
🎨 Led workshops for children, focused on education, emotional wellness, and creativity

The people of Granizal have shown us resilience, warmth, and strength. Now, as they face this unimaginable tragedy, they need our support more than ever.
