Dry Tortugas National Park's Story

Who? Susan and Michael (8)

I am a single mom of an 8-year-old boy. We live modestly in a small, one-bedroom apartment in Florida. Nothing makes us happier than spending time together outdoors: camping, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, etc. We love our mother-son adventures!

My son is not only a great student, athlete, and friend to others, but he is a kind and caring child who wants to help the environment. He organized his first beach clean-up at the tender age of 6 after seeing so much debris along the shoreline. He is always thinking of ways to be environmentally responsible. I do what I can to foster his love of nature, outdoor recreation, and stewardship.

This grant would allow us to visit one of the natural and cultural wonders in our own backyard! With your support we could visit Fort Jefferson / Dry Tortugas National Park which is 70 miles west of Key West, FL. Normally, a day-trip of this nature would be cost-prohibitive for us, but a grant from Travelnitch would make it possible for us to take the high-speed catamaran, which includes breakfast, lunch, and all snorkeling equipment.
