Story
The GWHS Alumni Association was founded in 1952, although an earlier alumni organization had existed. Our transformation from social club to financial support began in the 1960s when alumni and family established a few small-amount scholarships, but it was the heartwarming response from alumni to our fundraiser for the school's 50th anniversary in 1986-87 that created our first permanent fund: the Alumni Endowment.
Income from this fund enables us to bestow Grants to teachers and coaches for classroom supplies and student activities not funded by the school. With these tools, teachers improve the learning setting to help students succeed in today's competitive environment. We've supplied classrooms with books and other media, microscopes, music instruments, sports equipment, computers and more.
We administer the Alumni Endowment, a score of program funds (including department-specific funds), and over 3 dozen scholarship funds (including the prestigious Principals' Cups), all thanks to our generous alumni, retired faculty, and family. Your generosity helps GWHS maintain its high standard of educational excellence so today's students may attain a brighter future. We are Eagles For Life!
Thank you!
