Alumni Awards Dinner honoring Hall of Merit inductees

The George Washington High School Alumni Association invites you to the 2023 Alumni Awards, honoring
Robert Kleinberg S'67, HALL OF MERIT - Eminent energy technology & economics researcher and inventor;
Karen Shigezumi Sakata S'69, HALL OF MERIT - First Asian school Superintendent in California (Contra Costa County), Principal & educator;
Harold Abend S'71, HALL OF MERIT - Four-decade sports journalist (specializing in prep sports), womens' sports promoter & advocate.
No-Host Social Hour 6:00pm — Three-Course Dinner & Program 7:00pm — Ample free parking — Bring cash for the bar — Bring your own wine for $25 corkage per bottle (cash preferred).
Business attire or better (no ripped jeans).

Story
The GWHS Alumni Association, founded in 1952, grew from a social club with the heartwarming response to our fundraiser for the school's 50th anniversary in 1986-87 for our first permanent fund: the Alumni Endowment. We now administer a score of program funds and over 3 dozen scholarships (including the prestigious Principals' Cups)
The generous support from alumni, retired faculty, and family enables us to help GWHS maintain its high standard of educational excellence by bestowing Grants to teachers and coaches for classroom supplies and student activities not funded by the school, and awarding scholarships to college-bound seniors.
