On Oct 9th 2024, Hurricane Milton arrived on the gulf coast of Florida bringing terrifying winds and flooding. Many were still recovering from Hurricane Helene.

Nurses in Southwest Florida are living, working and breathing in the aftermath of tragedy.

They are navigating the cumulative care taking trauma against the backdrop of 2 natural disasters. They are doing the best they can to care for themselves while simultaneously caring for others.

All the while trudging through the intense emotions of loss, grief and exhaustion.

You can still have power, water, food and wifi and need support.

"As a SWFL resident, Punta Gorda and the surrounding areas are my home. Before my days Debriefing the Front Lines, I have worked at both Lee Health and Florida Gulf Coast University. As a result of my roots here, over 32% of the nurses receiving support via formal Debriefing and our Daily Communication Initiative live and work in Southwest Florida.

4) Onsite Peer Support Nov 20 - 24 in collaboration with nonprofit colleague, Rekindled Nurse, we will be delivering gifts of acknowledgment to storm weary nurses. Send a feel good, self care item to a nurse.
