Name The Shark

When you enter Clark Planetarium this summer, you're going to find a very special guest. An 11 Foot SHARK! Don't worry it isn't real (or is it?) The shark is part of our Shark Summer Celebration featuring the IMAX documentary Shark Kingdom 3-D. and you YOU get a chance to name the shark! Make a donation of any amount and submit your suggested name for the shark! We’ll review all submissions and announce the winning name on June 27th, 2025. All donations support Clark Planetarium’s public programs.

💵 Donations are welcome but not required to suggest a name.

✍️ You may submit a name when donating, or by email (see below).

📅 Deadline: Name suggestions must be received by June 20th, 2025.

📣 The selected name will be announced on June 27th, 2025.

🦈 Your support helps fund Clark Planetarium’s free exhibits and science education programs, keeping space and science accessible for all.

🎨 Get creative, have fun, and make your mark on our Shark Summer! We’re excited to see your clever, fierce, or cosmic ideas. 🌊✨

  • No donation is required to participate.

  • To suggest a name without donating, email clarkplanetarium@gmail.com with the subject line: “Shark Name Entry.”

  • All submissions will be considered equally, regardless of donation status.

  • This initiative is not a contest, raffle, sweepstakes, or lottery.

  • There is no element of chance or reward involved in the name selection. Donating does not increase the chances of a name being chosen.

  • Clark Planetarium, a division of Salt Lake County government, retains full discretion over the final name selection.

  • Suggested names may be edited, modified, or declined without notice.

  • No prizes, compensation, or recognition is guaranteed or implied.

  • All suggestions become the property of Clark Planetarium and may be used in future communications, marketing, or promotions.

  • By submitting, you grant permission for your suggestion to be publicly shared on social media, newsletters, and other channels.
