At Mindscape Neurodiversity Institute, our mission is clear: we are committed to transforming the lives of autistic and ADHD individuals. Our work began with the creation of theneurodivergentbrain.org—an immersive, information-rich website that provides vital resources on autism and ADHD. Thanks to the Google Ad Grant, our website is being globally advertised, reaching millions of people who need accurate, life-changing information.
However, our mission goes beyond just providing knowledge. We are dedicated to tackling the alarming mental health crisis faced by neurodivergent individuals. Did you know that autistic individuals are 9 times more likely to die by suicide than the general population? And that ADHD increases the risk of suicide by nearly 5 times compared to neurotypical individuals?
The harsh reality is even more apparent in the prison system. Studies show that up to 50% of individuals in prison have ADHD, and many of them were unemployed or underemployed at the time of their arrest. Neurodivergent individuals face higher rates of unemployment, with the latest figures showing that up to 85% of autistic adults are either unemployed or underemployed, despite their desire and ability to work.
These devastating statistics underscore the urgent need for systemic change—and that’s exactly what we’re aiming to achieve.
The Future: The Mindscape Autism Center in Las Vegas
Our next step is to bring our vision to life by building the Mindscape Autism Center in Las Vegas. This center will be a place of learning, support, and empowerment for neurodivergent individuals. We aim to reduce suicide rates and increase independence by teaching individuals how to turn their passions and skills into sustainable careers through entrepreneurship and job training.
By offering a wide range of programs, including hands-on training in areas such as engineering, mechanics, art, and technology, we’re helping neurodivergent individuals build valuable real-world skills that lead to meaningful employment or even the creation of their own businesses. Whether it’s mastering auto mechanics, learning CAD design, or developing an app, we focus on turning special interests into income-generating opportunities.
Revenue and Sustainability
The Mindscape Autism Center will be self-sustaining through revenue generated by:
These programs not only provide much-needed revenue but also instill a sense of purpose and self-sufficiency in participants, which can significantly reduce the risk of mental health crises, including suicide and incarceration.
