This fresh nonprofit is all about lifting spirits with their fabulous Craft Crates, designed especially for those grappling with stress and mental health hurdles. Since kicking off in April 2024, H4Hinc has already spread joy by distributing 100 Craft Crates and hobby goodies, delivering a dose of therapeutic self-care to those in need.
The brainchild behind this amazing initiative is Michael, a military vet and Twitch streaming aficionado. After a decade of building a lively online community, his streaming dreams hit a snag when his trusty computer went kaput, leaving him feeling cut off from his passionate platform. For Michael, streaming wasn’t just a hobby, it was his secret weapon against anxiety and PTSD. But when the streaming lights dimmed, he found himself lost and isolated until his awesome community rallied together, raising funds for a new computer in record time!
While the support was heartwarming, Michael still faced the uphill battle of reigniting his Twitch flame. In a twist of fate, he discovered the joy of making pin-back buttons! This crafty escape helped him reconnect with his spirit and manage his mental health. Inspired by his own healing journey, he teamed up with longtime community moderator Michelle to launch Hobbyists for Humanity, aiming to sprinkle that same magic on others.
Now, H4Hinc is on a mission to provide Craft Crates to anyone seeking a fun and simple way to tackle stress, PTSD, and more. Michael sums it up perfectly: “Healthy hobbying is key, as I've taken an inspirational approach of, 'If I can do it anyone can do it,' kind of mentality!"
