Get your child interested in learning languages! A new language can open up the whole world!

What's this all about?

These 8 week classes are just a $15 donation to Bloom House per class (pay ahead of time or weekly) and are so much fun! Your child will learn the basics of Russian from the alphabet and pronunciation to basic conversation! These 8 week classes are an excellent intro to Russian and can start anytime in July, but there's only enough time slots for 10 so schedule your class early!

Clara learned Russian in her undergraduate years at Northeastern State University, has many years of teaching experience and knows how to make learning fun! She taught dance from 2005-2011, enjoyed teaching Introduction to Psychology at FHTC 2016-2018, and is a full time instructor in Art Therapy at ESU since 2020. These classes will engage all learning styles with the inclusion of music, poetry, movies, memes, and cool language learning stickers! Your child will leave these classes with the confidence that comes from a dip into the language learning pool, inspiring the curiosity to take that further - whether that's continuing with Russian or learning another language!

Who are these classes for?

Classes are adaptable to different ages and ideal for kids in all grades from elementary school to high school! If you have two siblings or friends who want to learn together, we can schedule those classes together - just make sure to send me that note when you select the classes!

Where do the classes meet?

Classes can be in person and will meet in Clara's office at Bloom House Youth Services, can be set up at another location if that's more convenient, or on Zoom! (If meeting on Zoom stickers and other fun stuff will be dropped off in person or mailed)

What does my donation fund?

Your donation of $15 per class adds up and helps Bloom House match the federal grant from the Family & Youth Services Bureau - in short, it helps to make sure the bills are paid, the lights stay on, and Bloom House can keep doing what we do - offering shelter and a 24/7 drop in center for runaway, homeless, and at-risk teens as well as recreational, therapeutic, educational activites, multiple meals a day, access to hygiene closet, clothing closet, and food pantry, and therapy and case management! Your donation directly helps us keep our doors open!

Why Learn Russian?

Russian is classified as a critical needs language in the United States. Critical languages are those that are considered crucial for national security and economic prosperity but are not spoken by enough Americans. If these classes lit up an interest in Russian - this could lead to all kinds of cool academic and job opportunities in the future! Beyond that, Russian is a fun language to learn - it's a challenge; you will feel accomplished as you learn more words and phrases! It's a language of poetry, ballet, and opera! And a language spoken by 260 million native speakers and an additional 120 million non-native speakers!
