This second session will launch in late summer and implementation will be informed by data and outcomes attained in our beta session. As a community-rooted organization, we strive at all times to respond to the most urgent needs in our community through our programming. When Millvale Social worker Alyssa Peters approached us about offering a music program for youth 12-16 struggling with substance abuse, we were honored and knew we had to jump into action!

You Be You Inc’s Sound Choices program is a direct response to the rise of youth substance abuse in our community. This program is a partnership with the Millvale Police Department’s Social Worker Alyssa Peters and the Millvale Community Library.

We are seeking to raise a total of $500 to host 5 weeks of classes for our first trial session. We will be working closely with social worker Alyssa Peters to track data and outcomes of our program. These funds will cover weekly staffing to facilitate classes, administrative time and lesson planning, space rental as well as budgeting for nutritious meals and supplies.

There are no bad kids – just circumstances that lead youth to make ill-informed choices from a place of struggle. Through community, artistic expression, and nutritious meals, we will foster a space that guides youth towards a creative outlet where they can make more empowered choices and express and explore who they are. Classes begin May 1st and students graduate from the program on May 29th.
