NeighborLink Indianapolis is a nonprofit focused on helping homeowners age in place safely by providing home repairs at no cost to the homeowner. Those we serve are 62+ or have a disability and live at or below 150% of the federal poverty line. We are able to provide our homeowners with free home repairs thanks to the generous donations of our community, grants, and partnerships.

The Moore family, featured in the video, are a great example of who we serve. Members of a community who have been there for well over three decades. Their homes are from their father before them and they hope to pass them to their grandchildren beyond them. Opportunities for generational wealth many times are through the family home. Being able to preserve that home and stabilize a house for a family is key in promoting equity for those who would typically struggle to qualify for conventional home loans to become home owners. Additionally, for older adults like the Moore family, who don't have mortgages to pay, their truly is no more affordable housing option than the home they own. Preserving that home in the affordable housing supply rather than letting it fall to an investor and be flipped for three times the worth of its surrounding area is an underlying benefit of the work we do.
