🌿 About Me

Hello dear friends! My name is Polo Roseline, a trained permaculture teacher and designer from Homa Bay County, Kenya. I completed my full 2-week Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) with Paul Odiwuor Ogola of PermoAfrica Centre, graduating in June 2023.

This training changed my life. It helped me reconnect with traditional wisdom, understand ecological design deeply, and see how regenerative agriculture can lift entire communities out of poverty. After graduating, I asked myself one question:

“How do I bring this knowledge home to my people?”

The answer became Happy Organic Farm.

Happy Organic Farm is a community permaculture teaching, demonstration, and training site, registered with the Government of Kenya. It is located in Oneno Village, Korayo Sub-Location, Kochia Central, Homa Bay County.

Our vision is simple and powerful:

We work to reconnect local farmers—especially women, youth, and vulnerable households—to sustainable gardening, soil restoration, and chemical-free organic farming.

We formed small farming groups so that new regenerative practices can spread quickly across villages suffering from climate change, low yields, and decades of soil degradation.

🌳 Additional Skills & Continued Learning

As part of strengthening this ongoing work, Rose completed Syntropic Agroforestry training in July 2025 with Roland van Reenen and Esther Njeri (Dee J Essy) in Kitui, Kenya. This additional training built on the foundation of Happy Organic Farm, adding forest-based farming systems and land-restoration techniques that support long-term resilience, soil regeneration, and increased food production.

🌾 What We’re Doing Right Now

With the help of our community members, we are actively working on:

🌱 Restoring degraded soils

👩🏽‍🌾 Training farmers in organic and permaculture techniques

👩‍👧 Supporting women and youth with hands-on skills

🥬 Growing vegetables and staple crops for food security

🤝 Strengthening small community farming groups

🏗️ Improving infrastructure at our teaching site (including fencing)

💧 Preparing for the dry season through mulching, compost, and water conservation

Every week, we take small steps that grow into big change.
