Haven Midwifery Collective

Haven Midwifery Collective (HMC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming maternity care in New York City by centering safety, equity, and compassionate midwifery-led care. Founded by Trinisha Williams, CM, Haven was created in response to the persistent racial disparities that place Black and Indigenous birthing people at significantly higher risk of pregnancy-related complications and death. Our mission is to provide culturally responsive, high-quality care that honors dignity, autonomy, and self-determination.

We are raising capital to open New York City’s first free-standing, midwifery-led birth center in Central Brooklyn. This 4,000 to 6,000 square foot community-based facility will include private birthing suites, exam rooms, and a welcoming space for education and gathering—designed to feel safe, supportive, and family-centered.

Haven will provide full-scope midwifery care from contraception and prenatal services through birth and postpartum care, alongside doula support, lactation services, newborn care, and holistic offerings such as pelvic floor therapy, bodywork, and childbirth education. Our model blends evidence-based clinical care with community-rooted support to improve outcomes and experiences for families.

Your support through the American Association of Birth Centers helps make this vision possible. By investing in Haven Midwifery Collective, you are helping expand access to respectful, midwifery-led birth options in Brooklyn and advancing equity in maternal health where it is urgently needed.
