HBCU Celebration Weekend: Honoring Heritage, Expanding Access, and Building the Future of Aquatics
The Diversity In Aquatics HBCU Celebration Weekend is a national gathering dedicated to honoring the legacy, excellence, and impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities within aquatic spaces. Held annually in Atlanta, this multi-day event brings together students, alumni, families, coaches, scholars, and community partners for a powerful mix of competition, education, culture, and connection.
Across the weekend, attendees engage in water-safety festivals, developmental swim meets, alumni competitions, film screenings, leadership sessions, and community-building experiences that celebrate both history and the next generation of aquatic leaders. It is a space rooted in belonging — where representation is visible, intergenerational mentorship thrives, and the water becomes a place of joy, pride, and possibility.
Your support makes it all possible.
Donations to this campaign fuel the HBCU Celebration Weekend and strengthen DIA’s year-round mission: expanding access to aquatics, eliminating drowning disparities, elevating research, supporting community programming, training instructors and caregivers, and reshaping the national narrative around water safety and inclusion.
Every contribution — whether $25, $100, or more — helps us continue creating safe, inclusive, and culturally relevant aquatic opportunities for underrepresented communities nationwide.
Together, we’re building a future where everyone has the chance to feel safe, confident, and connected to the water.
Thank you for supporting the movement — and helping us carry the wave forward.
