The Friends of HCS 2023-24 Annual Fund: "Building Community"

Dear HCS Community,

We are so appreciative of our entire community - from our teachers, to our administrative staff, to the students and their families - the people are what make Hoboken Charter such a special school. The Friends of Hoboken Charter School are committed to helping HCS be the best it can be and we need your help.

FAST FACTS:

1.) In 2012, the lower school building was badly damaged in a fire but we were able to build back stronger due to the support of this community, as we receive no funding for facilities from the state. A decade later, our HVAC needs to be replaced and this comes at no small cost. We are close to our goal of $1M total, which will cover the cost of replacing this vital system. This year, we want to raise $150K to close the funding gap and start this project among other facilities upgrades and maintenance needed.

2.) Public charter schools are deeply underfunded.  Every year, Hoboken Charter School receives $7,143 less per student than a traditional public school.  

3.) We need to retain our dedicated teachers and staff. Pay scales are less than BOE scales. We fundraise to show our appreciation for their commitment to HCS and their eagerness to engage with students on a deeper level through mission centered activities.

How can you help?

- DONATE! Our annual fund is now open and every penny counts. The Annual Fund is also an opportunity to utilize employer match donations. Please see if your employer matches donations, by using our Match 360 software on our website here.

- VOLUNTEER to support the Annual Gala, our biggest fundraiser. We always need help soliciting corporate and local donations.

Together, we can help our kids learn in the safest, healthiest environment possible.
