Story

VISION's "Healthy Schuylkill Communities" was started in response to a Lehigh Valley Health Network's Community Health Assessment that found poor nutrition choices and lack of exercise were important issues to address in the county.
It has expanded from continued work in the 3 established communities, Mahanoy City, Shenandoah, and Schuylkill Haven; to providing health and wellness programming/education in communities across Schuylkill County and on Social Media.  Healthy Schuylkill Communities increases eating fruits and veggies through education (learning sessions) and food access (community gardens) and provides increased opportunities for physical activity through walking (Schuylkill on the Move and PA WalkWorks)

Healthy Schuylkill Communities is supported by Lehigh Valley Healthy Network-Schuylkill.  Additional sponsors include: Evans Network of Companies (Schuylkill Haven Community Garden), Get Outdoors PA and Schuylkill County Conservation District (Healthy Schuylkill Summer), and generous community donors.

Schuylkill County’s VISION has been serving the people of Schuylkill County since 1998.
VISION is involved with hundreds of county residents in projects that make difference in their lives.
VISION builds effective collaborations with partners and other community organizations that take on some of the big issues in our county.
VISION invites you to become acquainted with some of the projects we are presently supporting. These projects affect a large number of our county residents in critical areas such as health & wellness, quality of life, arts & culture, economic growth, and the importance of community. Our partners work with us to focus the combined energy of community organizations and individuals. These collaborations bring a wide range of knowledge and resources to the table to address complex problems. Working together we can accomplish much more than any of us can alone. That is VISION’s job:
Bringing groups together, helping them find the resources to be successful, and then communicating their good work to the county.
