Heat the Streets Run & Walk for Warmth

Since 2007, Metropolitan Utilities District and Omaha Public Power District have teamed up to host an annual run and walk, with proceeds benefiting local utility assistance programs to help friends, family and neighbors in our communities pay their utility bills. The event is hosted during the cold winter to bring attention to those who struggle to keep the lights on and heat their homes. However, utility assistance is a year-round need.

Funds raised are administered by Dollar Energy Fund, Inc., a registered 501(c)(3), and then split between M.U.D.’s Home Fund and OPPD’s Energy Assistance Program to provide assistance to our customers living in Burt, Cass, Colfax, Dodge, Douglas, Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee, Richardson, Sarpy, Saunders and Washington counties.

We are proud that 100% of the money raised stays local.

Thousands of our neighbors are forced to make difficult decisions about where their money goes – food, medicine or heating and cooling their homes. This event plays an important role in our community, and we are grateful for you donation.
