Bessie is just a baby, and she needs our help.

Our friends at Auburn Valley Humane Society reached out when this tiny puppy was struggling to keep food down and fading in the shelter. They suspected persistent right aortic arch (PRAA), a congenital condition that constricts the esophagus and makes it difficult for food to reach the stomach.

We immediately said yes and rushed Bessie to Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle. Testing confirmed PRAA, and Bessie had also developed pneumonia, a serious complication of her condition.

Bessie will need surgery. But first, we’re working to get her pneumonia under control, put some much-needed weight on her tiny body, and get her stronger. For now, her food must be blended to a soup-like consistency, and she needs to be held upright after every meal.

Bessie has an entire team fighting for her, and we’re going to do everything we can to give this little girl the chance to grow up.

Her care will be expensive. Between her hospitalization, advanced imaging, specialty care, surgery, and recovery, Bessie’s medical expenses will reach thousands of dollars. Every gift—whether it’s $10, $25, $100, or more—helps get her closer to the care she needs.

Please help us give Bessie her second chance. ❤️
