About a year ago, I met two men who had both recently moved to Bend.

Both were isolated. Carrying heavy loads with no one around to lean on.

One was stuck in a job that was slowly killing him. Every time he brought it up with family, they shut him down.

“Be grateful. Stop wanting more.”

The other had just found out he was going to be a father. Brand new to town. No support system. No roots yet.

I challenged the first man to identify one simple step toward the work he actually wanted. Within a month, he was starting his dream job.

The second man asked me, “Why would God let this happen now? We just got here?”

I asked him, “What if God brought you here just in time?”

His entire perspective shifted. He’s been growing ever since.

I’ve spent years building Dangerously Good Men — working with fathers and sons who are ready to invest deeply in who they’re becoming.

But that wasn’t what those two men needed.

They needed an invitation from a man who cared enough to listen, ask a challenging question, and refuse to leave them stuck and alone.

That’s what The Improving Grounds gives men.

The proving grounds used to be where men tested themselves, forged brotherhood, and earned respect. Now most men just curate their image online.

At The Improving Grounds, we’re building something different.
