Help Send our all Boys Technical Engineering team to WORLD FINALS!!!

Our Odyssey of the Mind team, from Longwood, Florida, has earned their place competing at the World Finals competition in Ames, Iowa and is competing in the technical engineering problem. Months of hard work and two competitions later we now need YOUR help to get there. We have just 4 short weeks to raise $12,000 to pay for all of the expenses necessary to get us to Ames, Iowa and compete on the world stage.

What is Odyssey of the Mind you ask? It is an international STEM program that challenges students to think creatively, engineer solutions, and then perform their ideas in an 8 minute skit at competition. Teams spend months designing, building, and refining their projects as a team which combine engineering, storytelling, theatrics, and creativity. As a technical engineering team their challenge was to create a voice activated device to help them travel from one location to another all while creating hilarious malfunctions and unexpected locations. In Odyssey the sky is the limit to the creativity and problem solving and this team really took that to heart. These boys learned to braid hair, solder motors, and even performed a song and dance while cracking jokes, changing scenes and running their device all while wearing pink disco pants and dresses, yes... pink dresses. Plot twist... the device had to be wearable and it, along with the backdrops/set, and props ALL had to fit in a small carry on suitcase with very specific measurements. Talk about thinking outside the box! The boys pushed through creating a unique solution securing top 3 finishes at both Regionals and State finals.

They created a top notch solution. Now we need top notch help to get them there. Ames, Iowa may not be an exotic travel destination for most, but for this team it will open up the opportunity to meet and compete against teams from all over the world!!!!

The Goal is $12,000

But what does that cover? Traveling to World Finals comes with significant costs, including:

Transportation
Lodging
Competition fees
Materials and preparation

No amount is too small!!!! Every dollar directly supports getting our team to World Finals. Donate $250 or more and you will get recognition on our Team Shirts worn to the world finals competition. The more you donate the bigger the logo/recognition.
