My name is Mia Oddo, and my life began in a whirlwind of chaos and hope. In 1975, at the height of the Vietnam War, I was one of the thousands of children airlifted to safety during Operation Babylift. I was just a baby, placed on a plane bound for a new life in a foreign land. I grew up knowing I was adopted, but the details of my origins remained a mystery—a puzzle with missing pieces that I’ve longed to complete for my entire life.

As a child, I was blessed with a loving adoptive family, but the unanswered questions about where I came from and who I left behind have never faded. I’ve spent years searching for clues, piecing together fragments of my past through scattered documents and DNA tests. The journey has been both heartbreaking and hopeful, but now, I stand at a crucial moment where I need help to take the next steps.

My Goal: A Journey Home

I am seeking to travel to Vietnam to trace my roots, connect with possible relatives, and, hopefully, reunite with my birth family. There is a chance my birth parents or siblings have spent decades wondering what happened to me—just as I have wondered about them. I dream of looking into their eyes, hearing their voices, and understanding the story of how I came to be on that plane.

This journey is about more than just finding my biological family. It’s about healing, closure, and honoring the past. It’s about bridging the gap created by war and loss, and, with luck, reconnecting with the family I never knew. However, the costs of international travel, hiring local search resources, and navigating complex adoption records are significant, and I can’t do it alone.
